What is Nightline?
Nightline is a student run, confidential listening and information service.
What does this mean?
Listening service-
Nightliners are on duty every night from 7pm-8am during term time to listen to any problem you may have. Whether you are stressed, worried about exams, having problems with friends or just want a chat, we are more than happy to listen. Your call will be welcomed whatever the hour.
Information service-
Nightline has a wealth of information regarding almost every subject imaginable! We can help with University or Nottingham information, can provide information such as health centre numbers, taxi numbers, takeaway numbers, links to other helplines and even all night alcohol delivery numbers!
How do you get in contact?
Call us from an internal telephone for free on 14985, or you can call us from any external number / mobile numer - our number is on the back of the old Smart cards, or you can now email us at nightlineanon@sumail.nottingham.ac.uk. All e-mails will be replied to within 48 hours, and e-mail addresses will remain anonymous, so confidentiality is maintained.
What is the new e-listening service?
E-listening is a new service offered by nightline. As well as contacting us by phone you can e-mail us for information, to get something off your chest or just to have an e-mail chat about anything, nothing is too big or small. The service is confidential and anonymous and you can e-mail any time, day or night. Nightline volunteers cannot see your e-mail address, so anonymity is maintained at all times. We will reply to you within 48 hours during term time.
Do you want to train as a Nightliner?
If so, the training has already started this term. There will be another training session next semester, so please e-mail nightline@nottingham.ac.uk
NB: to use the e-listening and information service (contacting Nightline via e-mail), please use the nightlineanon@sumail.nottingham.ac.uk account, as this will ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
