Who We Are
We are NAMA - the Nursing and Midwifery Association and this is a brief summary of who we are and the different teams that work to give you the best from the university.
Ana Tailby - President
Ana takes over as president having come up through the ranks of NAMA. She runs the committee, involving; delegation, organisation and overall approval of all NAMA activities. Always up for a good time and with Ella at her side there is always a laugh to be had! Ella Bowden - Vice President
Ella is our newly voted vice taking over from Lord Winston, who's very big shoes she will strive to fill. She has been involved in NAMA since October 2005 firstly on the social team, then as a NAMA Karni rep helping us reach the largest amount of money for charity the nurses have ever achieved, and organising some incredible parties. She is Ana's right hand woman, in fact the two of them are barely apart, always plotting ways to make NAMA bigger and better. Katie Davies - Secretary
Katie does all the paper work for NAMA. She writes (and colours in) all the minutes and emails the various different sections of NAMA to make sure people are kept informed of what is going on. If you want to email Katie her email address is ntyzkld@nottingham.ac.uk.
Anna Pengelly - Treasurer
Anna is the treasurer and this means she looks after all our treasure (when we find some). She funds all the welfare events and the decorations at the NAMA events, so give her a big thank you if you see her about :) You can email Anna at ntyzalp@nottingham.ac.uk.
The Social team organises all the events and nights out for all the nurses. This is a hard job and can involve al lot of good times and partying. They are all Karni reps (which is why they have not got their blue NAMA tops on) and have close links with the students union and are trying to get the profile of nurses more recognised by the university. Natalie Handley - Social Secretary
Nat is in charge of the social team and this means that she makes sure that all events that are being planned are checked by her. She is very commited to the post and keeps those un-ruley social reps in order! You can email Nat at ntyznjh@nottingham.ac.uk.
The Welfare Team looks after all nurses - any problems with essays, busary, accommodation - anything at all - they are very friendly and approachable. They have a drop in session in the NAMA office (near C50) every Wednesday 12pam till 1.30pm. There is also a mobile phone that one of the team has on them at all times which you can phone or text if you have any urgent problems. Nicci Bradley - Welfare Officer
Nicci is head of the welfare team and is very experienced with dealing with any problems that student nurses may encounter. Nicci is often on courses to gain more knowledge on how to help students through uni and uses her team effectively to overcome difficulties students may find themselves in. The team of publicity people make all the posters you will see around the QMC. They advertise the events the social team are doing and any promotions or advice times the welfare team are doing. They also co-ordinate emails to all the nurses making sure they are well informed. Sports
NAMA is new to Sports and in only a short period of time has a netball team and in the process of once again having hockey and football teams. In the future the nursing teams hope to be able to compete at higher levels within the university and become infamous. Peter White - Webmaster
This is final product of something that started early in 2005. With the help of the students union we have managed to create the first website by any particular association. Must say a big thanks to LJ and Aaron for helping getting all this started. If there is anything that you have spotted doesn't work or you would like putting on (no I don't have any pictures of nurses like that) then email me at ntyzpw@nottingham.ac.uk.
Finally a shout out to all the other members of NAMA that are either in a team and don't have their picture up yet or have not got a specific team they work for then this little bit is for you! Everyone in NAMA works very hard to make sure that all the nurses in the QMC have a good time and are looked after!
