Introduction - What is Team Intersite?

 

Team Inter-site™ is made up of the Inter-site Officer (Alistair Wood) and the Inter-site Support Worker (Jonathan Kavanagh). Our office is based at the Students' Union on University Park. However, our focus is firmly on you and all the other students based at the University's satellite sites! We're here to make sure that you don't miss out!

What does Team Inter-site Do?

All Students across all sites have access to core Students' Union services such as the advice and representation facilities. These services are either promoted by Team Inter-site or, in some cases we provide them directly.

Never to be complacent though, the Students' Union is constantly striving to involve students who are not based at University Park more fully. We are now working very hard to expand the range of provisions available to healthcare students at satellite sites, via a long-term plan.

This plan includes the intention to set up a students' association at each education centre, which will act as a mini Students' Union for that site. The Students' Union will provide these groups with training and continuous support to keep them active. Some sites already have student associations set-up for example; Phsyio Soc (Physiotherapy Society) based at the Nottingham City Hospital and SUNAMA (Students' Union Nursing And Midwifery Association), located at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.

To find out if your site already has an association, see the "Associations" section for your site using the menu on the left hand side, this will give you more information about the existing groups and tell you what to do if you want to help establish a new association at your centre.

What did Team Inter-site Do last year?

There are a number of other things that the Students' Union is doing to improve the experiences of healthcare students who are not based on University Park Campus. Here are a few examples of what the Students' Union achieved last year;

  • Helped establish a part time common room for Boston students by joining with the School of Nursing and negotiating access to the Pilgrim Hospital Social Club
  • Facilitated the establishment of SUNAMA (Students' Union Nursing And Midwifery Associatoin) at Derby

  • Launched the Campus Connection website

  • Set up an on-line voting system for the Students' Union Executive Elections allowing students from all sites to take part in the elections for the first time
  • Established a network of modern Students' Union notice boards across the different centres
  • Secured a Students' Union office for use by student course reps and a future Students' Association, as part of the new Mansfield Education Centre (due to open 2008)
  • Provided continued support for Nottingham NAMA (Nursing And Midwifery Association) based in the QMC
