Description of job:
I represent all those students who care and campaign about environmental and social justice issues. The Environment and social Justice officer is the conscience of the Students' Union, always pushing to make us a more sustainable and socially responsible institution, and lobbying the university to do the same. I also act as a link between all the societies who campaign tirelessly on behalf of the planet, the oppressed and disadvantaged. If you think a cause is worth fighting for, but not sure where to turn, then drop by and we'll see if we can't put on a protest rally, draft a policy motion, or organise a petition.
Aims:
By the end of this year I want to see our Students' Union well on its way to becoming a leading example of an environmentally sustainable institution, for us to use only progressive, green, ethically sound companies in our advertisement and sponsorship contracts, and for the Union and the University to start investing your money with an ear to their conscience instead of just an eye on their wallets.
