Job Description: As Athletic Union Officer I am responsible for overseeing sport at the university of Nottingham, and encouraging inclusivity and participation in all areas, for all abilities. This remit covers sport from grassroots intra-mural to elite BUSA (British Universities Sports Association) competition.

Aims: I hope to continue the excellent performance in BUSA that we achieved this year (5th out of 148 institutions), and build upon this (although that will prove to be very difficult!) My aim is to ensure that we have as many people as possible competing at all levels, and that there is a provision of sport for all. I would like to see more inclusion of those teams/students that live on the campuses other than University Park, and ensure that they are being catered for. With the development of our new Students’ Union website, the AU will be able to communicate far better with its members, and it will facilitate greater interaction within teams/clubs themselves. Working together with all our media outlets, I hope to raise the profile and information channels of sport within the union, especially concentrating on increasing knowledge and awareness of our fantastic intra-mural system.  The implementation of the new sports membership fees will hopefully enable far more student participation in sport, be it on a serious or casual basis. Supporting, along with the Athletic Union Exec, all the clubs within the Athletic Union, and ensuring that they are all catered for is crucial for the success of sport at Nottingham. The new Wednesday night at Gatecrasher will look to facilitate the social aspect of the AU, providing a great weekly event for all teams to celebrate their successes.
