Student Community Action
SCA gives students the chance to get involved in volunteering in and around Nottingham, giving you the chance to develop valuable skills and experience and at the same time help your local community. We work with more than 100 organisations, so whether your passion is art or sport, conservation or education - we have all sorts of opportunities to work with people young and old from every background you can imagine. And you won't be alone - last year we had over 1000 active students!
We're always open to new ideas as well, so if you've got burning desire to start your own project then SCA is here to help. Last year we helped one of our volunteers set up a project to collect school books for children in Africa. The Tanzania Book Project has been so successful that some of our students have spent the summer in Africa building an education centre to house some of the donations. With SCA you never know where your volunteering will take you.
For those who don't have the time to volunteer on a regular basis, why not try a one-off Challenge? You'll be amazed what you can achieve in a day! Last year our volunteers landscaped gardens, painted murals and threw a Halloween party, so why not take up the SCA Challenge yourself?
Membership is free and the commitment to projects can be as little or as much as you choose. If you want to get involved or just want to find out more, keep an eye out for the cow and our Publicity Team, or get in touch via the website at www.su.nottingham.ac.uk/sca or why not drop into our office on B floor of the Portland Building for a chat and a chance to try out the largest sofa in Nottingham!
